About the Founder

Mainak Roy - Founder / Director

Mainak Roy, Founder / Director of Roy’s Academy of Finance is an Accountant by profession and an MBA (Finance) from Birmingham City University, United Kingdom.


Mainak holds a 1st Class Honours degree in Accountancy from one of the premier institutes in India. He secured 5th rank in his degree examination and was declared a National Scholar by the UGC (University Grants Commission), India.


Currently Mainak is settled in London since 2010 and working as a Financial Controller with one of the Local Government Authorities in London.


As a Financial Controller, he provides a comprehensive professional finance service that fulfils partner Councils statutory, corporate and operational requirements, As a Financial Controller, Mainak’s job is to ensure that all accounting and financial records accurately reflect transactions, comply with policy, procedural and legal requirements, and adhere to UK GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and FRS (Financial Reporting Standards) 102.


Prior to joining the UK Civil Services, Mainak has worked for 25+ years in Private Sector (Telecommunications, Retail, Ecommerce, and Hardware) with small and medium sized companies in different managerial roles in the UK and India.


Mainak has extensive experience in managing Corporation Tax compliance function, including preparation and filing of Corporation Tax Returns, VAT Returns, R&D Tax Credits, Patent Box Reliefs and Capital Allowances in large organisations.


Mainak has extensive experience in planning, supervising and implementing all tasks relating to final accounts, external audit, budget monitoring, general ledger management, project finance, cash flow forecasting and variance analysis. He has a good track record of initiating and implementing measurable process improvements in finance service delivery through Six Sigma Projects.


Mainak has extensive experience in finance ERPs: Oracle Cloud, SAP and Sage Accounts. He is highly proficient in Microsoft Office packages. In India, Mainak has worked for US Fortune 500 Companies: General Electric (GE) and Agilent Technologies (subsidiary of Hewlett Packard).
